Oh How Do I Love The Read
It is February, and the love, as well as a little challenge for you, is in the air. Earlier today I was daydreaming *again* and it occurred to me how well many book couples sounded together. 10 minutes later...
*poof*...
a cool little poem for you guys.
The Challenge?
The poem is full of nerd-,er, booktastic character references.
Think you know them all?
How Do I Love The Read- written in total awesomeness by Kurligirli
You are the Jack to my Katla
The Sam to my Grace
You think I look pretty
With crud on my face
Like Christian and Clara
We'd fly though the sky
and unlike ol' Sarah
You'd never say good by
You would leave me red tulips
Make my heart like a mixer
I'd think of you always
as I drink my elixir
Even as I run 50 miles per hour
The sheer thought of you is the source of my power
Like Locke and Jenna we may not be real
But my happiness lays in the way that we feel
I may be sounding childish like Miss Riley Bloom
But each day without you is everlasting doom
The time fighting bad guys is like crap on my shoe...
Squishing into the time I should be spending with you
Think you know what books I kept referring to? Let me know in the comments!

And the Angel Said "Do not be afriad, for.... there is still time to shop"
What does Christmas mean to you?
Don't give your automatic fake answer, like 'happiness'.
That's what you did, didn't you?
What does Christmas meant to anyone anymore? Look around. All I see is mall Santas and wish lists.
There is ever a 'shopping guide' taped to the inside of the bathroom stalls.... at church.
I'm not going to judge you if you are one of those 'peace, love, and ohh JCP is having a sale!' kind of people.
Who are we really to point fingers at?
What is there even to point at?
For many, Christmas still has a true purpose. Everyone is together, the kids stop fighting for a few days, all really is calm and bright.
I'm not going to say what I feel when I think of Christmas. That is not the point.
Think about this season, what ever your reason for it may be, and really ask yourself.
What does Christmas really mean to me?

The 12 Days of My Family
now what do I have to look forward to?
The 12 Days of My Family
On the 12th day of Christmas, my family gave to me....
12 trips to Wal-Mart
11 snotty tissues
10 broken angels
9 video game hacks
8 dayquil doses
7 netflix movies
6 out-grown bathrobes
5 germ-x squirts..... *dramatic pause*
4 trips to the doctor
3 annoying children
2 Easter bunnies
and a rapping paper nazi!! *
Merry Christmas everyone!
*yes, I said 'rapping paper nazi'. That is the nickname my father has earned over the years due to his habit of cleaning up every bit of wrapping paper before letting us move onto the next gift. He wears this title with a smile on his face and a black trash bag in his hand.
Thanks to my brothers (aka annoying kids numbers 2 and 3) for helping me write this!

Top Nine Reasons to Bring Back "The Nine Lives of Chloe King"
Um... excuse me?
For anyone that has read my posts before you already know that I am
A) A science fiction/ fantasy super-fan
B) A teenage girl
and
C) Can get really annoying when I know something needs to be changed.
So *drum roll please* here we have it......
Top 9 reasons to bring back The 9 Lives of Chloe King
9) Our problem started before the show even aired. The word didn't get out soon enough! ABC spent all their time and money advertising for shows that already had followers and were putting their main focus on everything else. We got it: "Pretty Little Liars" would be bigger then ever and "Switched at Birth" is going to be a hit. Message taken. By the time the news about "Chloe King" got out enough it was too far into the season to get caught up.
8) Hello! They got nominated for TWO Teen Choice awards! Not only was it up for breakout show of the year (which, might I point out, it may have won if it wasn't for reason #9) but Skyler Samuels- better known as Chloe herself- was up for breakout star.
7) While I have no proof, I'm going to guess the people giving the ratings are NOT the target audience, in this case, high school and collage girls.
6) Chloe King gave us what TV seems to be missing: Science fiction that teens like! It's time to face the fact that we can't watch "Wizards of Waverly Place" forever (and even if we could that's ending soon). Us fantasy lovers need something as well. First ABC got rid of "No Ordinary Family", and now this? Come on people. This is a major genre that should get its fix as well, otherwise ABC will be losing even more viewers.
5) Although the exact number of times is unknown, "Alek" has trended on Twitter worldwide more then once.
4) Might I just point out that...
A) C.K. had more combined viewers on the first three episodes then the first three of "The Lying Game"
B) This aired the day after "Switched at Birth" which was REALLY popular therefor giving channel surfers a false sense of the good premiers being over.
3) Did you even see the last "Chloe King"? HUGE cliffhanger! It would be unfair and cruel for them to not even post online what should have happened. I mean for gosh sakes they get us all excited (long lost brother, unknown whether half the characters were alive, etc..) and pumped then leave us hanging. Its not even like anyone could read the book to find out due to the fact that they changed the storyline more then Taylor Swift changes her crush.
2) Team Alek vs Team Brian. This is so big I don't even know where to begin. There have been Facebook and Twitter debates over them. People couldn't get enough of fighting over the cuties! Go ahead: type in "Team Alek" on the Facebook search (sorry former Brian fans, there were HUNDREDS of search results). Everyone went NUTS! It was a mini Edward and Jacob war! Why ruin that?
1) With all the social sites and ways to communicate today, fans aren't going to stop until someone listens. So if anyone wants the fan war to continue, go ahead. I just gave you 8 good reasons not to go on sitting there like opinions don't matter. If it isn't for viewers and what they think there would be no pop culture- no music, no movies, no books.... what makes today would be zero. So wise up and listen (and I'm not just talking ABC). You might actually learn something!
So come on! Save our show!

Hi again!
I'm still alive!
Ok, so sorry about not posting at all this summer. My computer kept crapping out on me.
But now I have a new laptop and I promise to get blogging again!
Peace!

Kurligirli's Guide to Broken Summer Promises
Sounds promising, right?
It always does.
For many people, it is already about week 3 of the failed promises. Sure, there were some good times at the end of May, but those are just memories now. Or maybe you are one of those types of people that forgot about break until you/your kids started bringing home all the crap from your/ their locker/desk.
Then there are the people who are realizing just now that its break (explains why the kids are having such a long weekend, huh?)
Fear not! Because.. this... is... *overly dramatic pause*
THE KURLIGIRI GUIDE TO BROKEN SUMMER PROMISES!
*crowd goes wild*
Simply look for your type of Broken Summer Promise, read the buster, and get on with your life! (Please. The fact that you are even reading this shows you have way too much time on your hands.)
The Over Excited Mother
I put this one first because I see it all the time. These parents plan all this fun stuff to do with the family, then never get around to it.
Bust this probelm: Kids- Put on the puppy dog face and drop little hints. Like when emptying the dishwasher throw in a little "I bet this spoon had lots of fun getting wet. Almost like a water park... hay Mom, didnt you say...."
Mom- If it's a family emergency or money is tight, let the kids know that. If not, WHAT UP? It may seem harmless now, but breaking plans on your kids is gunna come up and bite you in the butt one day. They will remember, so next time they forget to do something and you get angry... well, sorry. You have that one coming.
The Bookworm
You have read half the library, fininshed the summer reading program more then once, and havn't stepped foot outside all summer.
Bust this problem: Take it from me: this may seem like a good idea in May but gets boring after you read your 5th book that week. Get out there already! Call up a friend, start a garden... ANYTHING. Books are great (I, personally, have already read 8 this summer) but so is fresh air. Even the kids at Hogwarts and Blackthorn get a break!
(For some break ideas look at other problem busters)
On a budget
Ok, so money is a little tight this year. You want to go do something but just don't have the cash.
Bust this problem: No money to spare? No problem! Staying at home can be just as fun as a vacation. Some of the many ways to make the best of what you already have are:
*Set up sleeping bags and a tent in the living room or the backyard and go camping
*Wash the car: lets see who can get the most wet
*Have a bakesale in your driveway
*Invite some friends over for the ultimate pillow fight
*Check out some books from the library to learn something new. Who would have thought there were so many ways to make a paper airplane or that Amelia Earhart had a sister named Muriel?
The Bored Sports Fan
Basketball camp ended a week ago, no school= no gym class, and you are getting restless.
Bust this problem: There are countless ways get active from home. Try inviting all the kids from your block over for a water balloon fight. Some friendly compatition that will keep you cool!
I'm bad at planning!
Do you forget what you were doing 20 minutes ago? Would you rather swim with a hungry shark then be incharge of somone's party?
Bust this problem: There are plenty of things to do that require no pre-planning at all. Take a walk or go to the zoo. Just don't forget your waterbottle!
A little too popular
You are over booked, have plans left and right, and never get any time for yourself.
Bust this problem: Follow the golden planning rule- whatever you said yes to first you go with. And remember, it is okay to say no when someone asks you to make plans!
No matter what your plans (or lack of) are this year, I hope you make the best of it!
Happy Summer!

Going Back To Only One World
It was the Hannah Montana generation.
Disney fans indulged themselves in the laughs, tears, and just plain awkwardness. Friends would have sleepovers and talk over it with a bowl of popcorn. Moms let their children stay up an extra five minutes to watch. It was amazing, and the idea was simple at the start: Keep Hannah secret from getting out and get through 8th grade. This grew into freshman year and boy crushes. Girls (heck, and even some guys!) were hooked.
The movie in 2009 made the show even more popular. It seemed like it could only keep getting better. For the show, this was a true statement. But for the lead actress, Miley Cyrus, it was one bad choice after another. Anyone that has seen the "Can't Be Tamed" video knows what I'm talking about. She was showing a dark side not fit for innocent Disney flicks. Her clothes were well, less clothing. Parents were changing the radio station. It was getting bad.
They call it acting for a reason. To bad this wasn't the case. Also to bad that's its really hard to tell a 7yr old that their hero is turning into Lady GaGa. So they avoided it.
Haha, fat chance that much success at that. It was everywhere. Blogs. Newspapers. Annoying little pop-ups on the Internet.
Did these kids care? Um, NO.
They were under a spell. Hannah still seemed clean, so it was at least sugar coated. Miley Cyrus went her way, and Miley Stewert kept making kids giggle with stupid punch lines. The era continued.....
............. that is until last night. The last song was sung, and the TV set turned off turned off for the night.
Don't go counting on the magic being broken right away. Kids and teens who have stuck by the stitchs of a wig will always remember as they go on with their lives.
Talk about getting the best of both words :)

I'm
That is what I did half and hour ago.
Disco? Check. Annoying "oooh oooh!!!"? Check.
10,026 words and a finished NaNoWriMo?
Check and check.
P.S.- The title? My 10,000th word that made me a winner :)

Great Scott! Not another blog!
Some movies never get old, no matter how many times you have seen them.
Take me for example. I have watched Back to the Future (parts 1, 2 and 3) twice this past week.
Twice.
Which leads me to something that has been fairly common here at the top of the stairs: confession time.
You may have guessed it by now, but I am a total Back to the Future junkie.
Oh, you want proof?
Fine, but I warned you. Don't come crying to me if you see yourself in this.
(This list can also be a sign. If more then 4 of these apply to you, drop what you are doing and email me immediately!)
*You will be SO mad if 2015 doesn't bring hover boards, flying cars, and the Cubs winning the world series.
*You lay awake at night desperately thinking of appropriate times to use the term "Great Scott" (see title)
*Say you do find out how to travel time. If going back to July 3rd, 1985 is on the list, you are good to go! (Bonus points if you would freak people out by spilling the ending... of the next movie)
*The first thing you plan on doing once you can drive is getting a bumper sticker that says 'My other car is a time machine'
*Who wants to blow up hills by the graveyard in search of time machines?
*You are not surprised by some people looking some way the one day and different-almost as if they are someone else- the next day. You ask them about their adventures in babysitting.
*Instead of hiding in your room when Mom and Dad embarrass you, you look for the family flux capacitor. There is no way they grew up when normal was around!
*There is a new appreciation for the old west,1955, and puffy vests
*You scream at the TV when they change the words. Sure, a kindergartner shouldn't hear them, but it destroys the humor! (Really, if you can read lips it just looks stupid!)
And the #1 way to tell...
*You still wonder what Doc meant when he told Marty that giving in every time someone called him names would cause a future accident

The Start of a Chance
The last swing
If you have never been to my house, you don't know that there is a swing set in my backyard. Nothing big; just a slide, some rings, a rope latter... and a swing. For as long as I could remember, that was my place. I would sit there and just think. What I would think about remains the question. I would get ideas there (like most of this blog) and enjoy the fresh air. But now, it will be a great place to plan school events.
The fear faced
Being the person that I am, fears are not strangers. One of the things that was tickling my brain was (no laughing aloud) going to the movies. An afternoon with my sistas fixed that. Sure I may have embarrassed myself as I chanted "Shut up and kiss her already!" during the film. And crying might have been a little much-although my friends seemed to have found it hilarious when they took pictures of my runny makeup. But really... you people need to lighten up!
The final skate
#1 thing done outside this year: roller skating. Drifting off with a water bottle hanging from my shorts turned into the highlight of the day. Today was my last stroll before class....
And I fell.
Don't get me wrong, I am FAR from perfect. But falling is something that is simply never done. The nose dive turned into a meaning.
*changes into tour guide outfit (think Progressive girl type)* "And here on the tour de bruises we see what happens when the sidewalk turns into driveway. Over there you get to view why sticks should be avoided while tubing. And if you look all around you there are numerous times when they got bumped into a table."
Not that meaning.
The sentimental meaning that comes with summer crashing down when it is least expected. The meaning that says 'Give it a rest already!' and slaps you in the knee. The meaning that will stick with me through the entire 8th grade.
Tomorrow begins a new time. New lessons, new memories. The end of a summer that everyone looked forward to while buried in snow.
The start of chance.

Confessions of a Disney Chick
Hi Bekah...
It has gotten to the point where I check under my bed for Tinkerbell before I go to bed. I want to marry a wizard and name my kids Zack and Cody. I'll vacation on the S.S Tipton. My days begin with a "Watcha doin'?" and end with a "Oh there you are Perry." My summer plans always included a visit to **Camp Rock. And when I look up at the sky, stars are not visible. All I see are Sterling Knight's hot, blue eyes looking at me...
There is tie-dye in my eye- wait... my Raven moment!
***I see a girl, jumping like some kind of moron on caffeine. She has PJs and wet pigtails that spin when she- er - spins! Banging on the couch chanting "KISS HER ALREADY!!" There is a crazed look in her eyes that would scare off a pack of Starstruck Hannah Montana fans.
The monster looks in the mirror and realizes she wasn't always like this.
Her story began when her stupid little brother turned off Spongebob and showed her some funny twins living in a hotel. By the time she entered the 4th grade this became no longer a thing to do when you get bored. It became a life. She forgot about the world. Her main goal in life was to decide which twin is a better actor. She tried to use a hairdryer as a weapon over creepy blue people like Kim Possible does. Her time was spend Googling how old the actors are and finding pictures of Waverly Place. And for a moment- just a moment -nothing was wrong.
Who said a little obsession was bad?
*This does not include the Jonas Brothers. Sorry boys, you stink!
**Oddly enough, I haven't seen that yet

It's poem time!
You know that feeling of power you get when doing something you love? That was how I got this first (and my favorite) poem.
My Domain
I have the mind of a writer, a strong warrior in the city of imagination. With my pencil at hand, ready for anything. I say what goes, and there is nothing about to stop me. Ideas flooding my brain, making me dream in poems. I am the ruler here. Go ahead and try to block me. As a writer, you'll regret it. This is my world now.
We seem to be doing favorites, so here is one that my mom likes. This is based off the fact that when I have a new book idea, my arms and legs get covered in goosebumps
Goosebumps
You make me all jittery and awake all day. A warning sign of book ideas going to my inner mind. The writer inside creeps into the read world, making my ideas take over. The soothing cold feeling of inspiration comforts me. Dreaming in perfect rhyme. Nothing being, nothing real, yet making perfect fact. Listening to the call of characters, waiting to hear their words.
Ya, some could call it a curse. The poet's curse. (Try talking like a pirate when reading this next one)
The poet's curse
I, let me tell yer, a saddest take to true. Always be careful and watch your back, or child, it could happen to you. This story's 'bout a young one, who read too many books. He read by day and wrote by night and poor fella got the Poet's Curse. He walked in perfect rhythm, and spoke in limericks. He pretended he was a pirate, eating with toothpicks. See, dear friend, readin's good but always do beware. You could get the Poet's Curse. It can happen anywhere.
Luckily, the curse has some flaws. I read that poem to a friend who didn't seem to interested.
Why did I show her the poem?
Why did i show her the poem? I knew she'd find it bad. She said it was fine, no foolin' me, the look on her face said sad. Why did I show her the poem? Who'd care for a Poet's Curse? I felt it was great but truth be told, I bet she thought it was the worst. Showing the poem was a bonehead move, gosh I was being dumb. Why did I show her the poem? At least the worst is done.
Ok, so we all agree that could use a better ending. Don't blame me! Blame the kid next to me!
The kid next to me
That kid next to me is going insane! He keeps whispering like some stupid game. Now way can I work with the constant clatter. If this all keeps up my grade will do shatter. I asked ever so nicely, I even said please. But he won't shut up, can't someone help me!? Now he keeps singing the same stupid song. This seating arrangement is going all wrong. This loud noisy kid, why me why me? Get him out of here! I'm begging you, please!
There isn't much you can work with when you have someone slapping a pencil on the desk. However, the person that is never to blame is the teacher. This is for my LA teacher for 7th grade, Mrs. DeYoung.
To Mrs. DeYoung
I love the stories you have us write, it's one of the coolest things to do. I live for the ideas you bestow on us, they have been getting into my dreams. To say it all you're an awesome teacher, and I love the class you teach. You are an inspiration, Mrs. Deyoung, and that is never going to leave.
Know what I will really miss about my teachers this summer? That they are nice to you even when you make a mistake. The story: I had some down time so I went to my locker to get something to read. I grabbed something that I already finished on accident. I was not too thrilled with myself.
My middle name is Stupid
My middle name is 'Stupid', it's awful sad to say. I got the wrong book from my locker while watching the others play. It really was a dumb mistake, and I'll admit to being harsh. But when everything is said and done, my middle name will always be 'Stupid', and I'll never have any fun.
Ouch. I must have been feeling something like this when I wrote that.
On the verge
It has nothing to do with me, so why and I acting like this? My eyes water, my stomach freezes in my throat. I am on the verge on an anxiety attack. Feeling as if I would vomit, my head is going to explode. This is going to be the longest day of my life. My eyes, wide like a deer in the headlights. Holding back my breakfast, this is the end for all i know. And I have nothing to do with it.
Good think I always spring back!
Rubber Bands
Zoing! Flying across the room. Aim, fire, going all over the place. Smack! Hits the wall. The teacher turns and stares. The rubber band is no more.
Best thing about school getting out? NO MORE MATH!
To math
Math how I hate you, you make me feel sick. That dumb number line just looks like a stick. I see no such point in finding the X. Math, dear math, the useless class.
May your summer be full of metaphors for fun!

I rewrote "The Night Before Christmas".... staring.... Wickie!
Twas the night before Christmas, and all though the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, and you Wickies snores softly filled the air.
The three children were snuggled all nice in their beds, while visions of candy canes filled their heads. And Mama and Wickie, Luke doing fine, and me i dont ever seem to know where I am at this time.
When out by the lawn toys, there arose such a clatter, and Wickie got up to see what was the matter. He ruched to the window all covered in frost, when he opened his eyes his mind almost seemed lost.
The moon glistening out on the new fallen snow gave slight view on what was below. When before Wickie's small eyes should appear, a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.
There was a tiny sleigh driver, so happy and quick. Wickie knew in a moment that it had to be St. Nick. The man was soon calling the reindeer by name; "On Dasher and Dancer! Come Comet and Vixen. On Coment, now Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen. To the top of the house! To the top of the wall! Fly away! Fly away! Fly away all!"
Away the sleigh went, all eight reindeer they flew. With a bag full of toys and St. Nicholas to.
Then in a junp-skip Wickie heard on the roof, the leaping a pawing of each little hoof. Wickie turned up his head and was turing around, he saw St. Nick shoot down the chimney with almost no sound.
The man was dressed in all fur, from his head to his toe. And his face was all dirty and smelled like mistletoe. A bag full of toys he held on his back, he looked like a camper, just opening his sack.
His eyes how they sparkled, his laugh, so merry! His face was like the flower and his nose was a cherry.
He held his pipe gently between his teeth, the smoke sircling his head like a fresh Christmas wreath. The man was quite round, ecpecally his belly. In a matter of fact he looked almost like jelly.
When ole St.Nick saw Wickie, he started to giggle. At the sound of his laugh, Santa started to wiggle. After that he did something that one might find sort of bizerk. He reached in his sack and got right to work. Filling the stockings, with candies the color of his nose, then turning around and up the chimney he rose!
He went up to his sleigh and gave his reindeer a shout. St.Nick and his reindeer were making their way out. But Wickie heard him shout into the night "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

Me, on demand.
Topic: Salsa (???)
My responce: Dancing, gracefully as the dip. Swaying, like when being tossed in the trash. Not knowing, what step comes next!
Topic: Lipstick
My responce: 27 brightned shades, costing all but half my pay, why did I have to babysit: all of them being used as crayons on the wall! :(
Topic: Phone
My responce: Texing my way through class, now thats the way to live. Not paying any care but to my friends. The flying of my fingers accross the keys........ that is, till I give the phone back
Topic: Fish
My responce: That's what I am, in my underwater kingdom. Flipping through the water, feeling more free then a bird. As I swim up for air, my arm brushed up along side a fish, and he seems to be telling me something. A secret, perhaps, of the ocean and its wonders.
Topic: Grass
My responce: The smell of a freshly mowed lawn. The feel and color of the morning dew.... that is until SPLAT! all over your brand-new jeans
Topic: Teeth
My responce: Ping! You flash that grin that gets them every time, like a small dog begging. They ask where you got your shoes, and you tell them nowhere. They ask if thats a store, and you say no. This goes on for about an hour until they finally leave with a grin as big as what you started with.

Long time no see blogspot!

Quotes and such that could go nicely here
"It will feel better when it quits hurtin' "
This often was said by my grandpa (may his soul rest in peace) when you were complaining. For anyone that knows what modern day Jr.High is like, you would see that this goes in quite well.
"Don't count your chickens before they hatch"
This in many cases refuring to the students.
"When you meet on a narrow path, move over"
Due to the new one-way halls (that I find was a really bad idea) you don't have to worry about this. Unless your in the main hall shared by 6th graders, 7th graders, and a few fairly large 8th grade boys.
"Fun never falls to far from the treehouse"
Unless you just fell out of the treehouse and landed not to far away.
"You call this Passing?!?!"
This one isnt really a quote, but it sounds like something that my mom would say when she looks at Luke's grade card. And I thought it would be a good way to end this blog.

the beach in french
I first knew I was there when Luke complained about the smell. I saw the ocean, going for miles and miles (and miles and miles...). The salty sent tickled my nose, and it was all great.
Until I got in.
As soon as my foot touched the water, I vowed NEVER AGAIN to complain about the water in Grandma Betty's pool. All I could think about was getting out and then sitting on a towel. Inside. By the fireplace. On the sun.
